Together Emory University, (Atlanta,Georgia), Drepung Loseling monastery and Institute of Buddhist Dialectics offer a Tibetan study abroad program for American students. This program integrates modern academic study, traditional Buddhist pedagogy, immersion in the Tibetan community, field research, and guided explorations of contemplative practice. Formal courses include:
1. Introduction to Tibetan Language,
2. Culture of Tibet,
3. Tibetan Buddhism: Philosophy and Practice,
4. Independent Research: Selected topics.

Emory's Tibetan Studies Abroad Program
Each spring semester, Emory's Tibetan Studies department leads a unique study abroad trip to Dharamsala, India to immerse students in Tibetan exile community's language and culture. Students take live with Tibetans, take weekend trips and spend an afternoon with the Dalai Lama.
